Sullivan Gets On His Bike!
By David Page 13 July 2015

First year runner Matthew Sullivan (23:28) capped off a great start to his VCCL career with a strong win holding off a barnstorming finish from Fraser Murray (28:14) in the Myrniong Handicap. Making the victory even more remarkable is that Matthew rode from Ballan to get there. Shane Thiele (23:28) finished a close third and took fastest time honours after he and his contemporaries denied Carlton victory on Friday night.
Floater Whitecross prepared a great course, the facilities at Myrniong are some of the best of the season and considering the weather elsewhere in Melbourne conditions were good.
It was great to have good support from Bendigo and their strong showing saw top 10 placings for Adam Parker and Brett Gilligan. Corina Kapusta (26:56) was fastest female and Bendigo’s Reza Azimi the first, first year runner (outside the top 10).
Next week is the 17th Eric Greaves Memorial at Braeside at 10:00am. This is a Championship event and a sealed start.
