Doona Warms Up For Winter
By Brian Marantelli 21 May 2018

Sean Quilty, after a quality summer track season, continued with his good winter form by taking out the major portion of the prize money in the time honoured Rendina Family 8km at Warringal Park on Sunday. Only a small field contested the event but Sean worked his way through the field to take the lead inside that last kilometre to win convincingly by eighteen seconds from Julian Harris and Irene James. Sean was the recent winner of the VCCL combined Athletics Victoria event, running over the 6km course at Jells Park.
Fastest times on Sunday went to Matt Grant (28:34) and Brigette Humphreys (31:30). Heather Sullivan was the winner of the first year members award. Heather, along with husband Glenn, will be running parkrun at Inverloch on June 2nd and invite all VCCL members to join them in another VCCL race combining with parkrun venues Australia wide.
This Saturday the VCCL competes over 12km at Cruden Farm in Langwarrin, entries must be in with AV before 12 noon Wednesday.
Once again the entire Victorian Cross Country League community thank Tony, Charlene and Christian Rendina along with Matty Taylor for their generous sponsorship of last Sunday’s event at Warringal Park.
