Janine Does It The Right Way!
By David Page 24 April 2013

After taking a costly wrong turn at Strathmore last week Janine McKerron (24:01) found the right path to the finish and recorded a strong win in the Moran Stable Handicap. Crediting her recent form to a summer Marathon prep, Janine was a popular winner in this hotly contested race. Another strong field took the line for this sealed race in near perfect conditions and Phil O’Brien (16:51) and Ian Burrows (17:15) led the field in over the 5km journey. Corina Kapusta (18:58) once again had the fastest time for the female athletes and Daniel Veith (18:16) and Steve Smith (23:07) ran strongly to finish second and third respectively.
The top ten runners this week looked very different to the week before so we look forward to some really good racing in two weeks when the first Handicapped start begins.
It was great to see some more new faces again this week and if you are new to the league you will want to make sure that you run next week at Lysterfield over what will be a scenic and challenging 8km course at the 10am start time.
Remember that everything needed to register and enter is online so take the opportunity to forward the VCCL link to a friend or two and if you do you will forever know happiness, a Nigerian prince will deposit $$ in your bank and Carlton will win the premiership. (It’s online so it must be true!)
